Kudos and " I am not worthy! " - from me - to Anderson Cooper AND Jimmy Buffet! This was an awesome interview.
Jimmy just tells it like it it. He shoots straight. And if they can't handle that - then - maybe they need to get the hell out of the Gulf - and let us find somebody with a conscience to do the job.
I grew up down on the Gulf Coast - in Texas City, Texas - in fact. The memories - wow. Holds much of the reason why I always say - " The smart ones move away - and never go back. "
Being a family member of an employee - is much like being the spouse of a firefighter - or - a cop - or - one of our military personnel on deployment.
That blasting sound - that alarm - that phone call - you wake up and live life with nerves rattled in the background - with every breath you take.
Grandpa - uncles - cousins - friends. It doesn't even matter if they happen to be someone you divorced - you never stop worrying - as long as they're on the inside of those gates.
That blast at the Texas City Refinery in 2005 - knocked my ex-husband off the ground almost 4' high.
At that time - his 6' 2" - 300+ lb. stature was standing up on a stack - clear over on the other side of that plant.
Even after that blast - and even after the nightmare they have created in the Gulf of Mexico - this company is proving that they could not care less about human life and the environment.
And it just feels like our government is never going to grow a pair and grab this company by the neck - until one of their own family members dies from this cruelty.
Some people say - " Well - that company put food on your table - and you didn't mind that. "
Let me rewind this tape - I believe I mentioned somewhere back there - something about a divorce. I was young and stupid. And I wasn't blessed with the best kind of upbringing. But I was smart enough to get the Hell out of there when I was able.
Until you've lived there - and you leave that place - and go live elsewhere - you are totally clueless.
As far as I'm concerned - this company has been committing acts of terrorism on this country - for quite some time - all for the sake of a buck.
