Says a lot - huh. But I guess that sums up the potency behind the one statement I do remember him making.
“ The one true fact about kids is - they grow up - and then they hurt you. “
And he is so right about that.
Unfortunately - they tend to find it comfortable existing in their immature abilities to absorb wisdom from advice - enough to live by such an intimate treasure. They’re always at the front of the line to claim the pain sitting on their side alone. Their race to the rant stages them incapable of comprehending any lucid idea that - they are only as human as any parent.
No matter how much they deny - there comes an unavoidable era in their life - which puts them on the same bench in the dugout - capable of holding a bat and doing just as much damage.
Yet - for some odd reason - society has come to the conclusion that they never age. Society now assumes that any parent is forever trapped by such position - incarcerated to the trials of having to “ be the adult “ in the situation.
Could this be the ever-so-transparent example to the fact that - society has infected itself with a poison causing it to refrain from ever - maturing?
Once a child becomes an adult - common sense reigns in the concept that one should expect to behave as an adult - in order to be respected as an adult - by stranger - and parent. Afterall - we expect every flower on an apple tree to grow up and become - one perfectly edible apple.
Or - has society become the spoiled brat - that gets away with changing the rules of the game - any time it applies the least bit of discomfort arising and forbidding them to have their way?
