GO AWAY, Kiffin - GO UT VOLS !!

Ohhhh… Go ahead. Hit that button. And feel good about doing it!

Listen while you read. It won’t kill ya’.

This past week was - truly - a jolting shock to all of East Tennessee - as well as every UT VOLS Football team fan living outside our region. Like a thief in the night - Lane Kiffin backed out on his commitment as Head Coach for the University of Tennessee Football team.

After only fourteen ( 14 ) months on the job - and a very short thirty-second announcement - the Selfish Boy could not board a jet quickly enough - ducking out on facing any deserved repercussions face to face - before running to California to coach at the University of Southern California. One more example of behavior exhibited that only proves - Lane Kiffin is far from being fit for coaching college football - period.

The icing on the cake - everything has happened smack in the middle of Recruiting season.  And we're all being told it was pure coincidence.  *cough*  Too late.  Everybody's on to the nasty.  Let's just hope the NCAA climbs on board and plugs that hole in the hull.

The timing was just downright nasty.  It was wrong.  And as far as I'm concerned - everyone involved in this JOKE knows that.  They just - don't care.  And that's the nastiest part of the problem.

The anger that erupted - a sight that has never been seen before around these parts - simply heartbreaking.

And that mindset behind Kiffin’s explanation for leaving his position with the UT VOLS - the same was used with such gall - to offer comments regarding his personal surprise and understanding about our anger. One more - pitiful and absolutely disgusting - example of behavior exhibited that only proves - Lane Kiffin is far from being fit for coaching college football - period.

The Boy - actually - attempted to claim all the glory for our anger. His understanding is that our anger comes from losing all the great accomplishments that he brought to the UT VOL football program. The fact is - our anger has - absolutely nothing - to do with his talents - or - his accomplishments.

The anger felt has - everything - to with Lane Kiffin’s character.

This is a man who cares nothing about college student athletes - his own family - or anyone else beyond himself. And yes - even his small children will grow up one day facing repercussions from his bad choices made - when time and time again - they will have to hear the words that will undoubtedly cost them many friendships - “Lane Kiffin is your father?

This is a man that has one goal - only one goal - his own. He stomps across the back of anyone getting in his way - loves riding the edge of breaking rules - while cutting throats to get what he wants - regardless of whomever.

College football is not - simply - only about winning games - winning conferences - and going to Bowl games.

College football is intended as - purely - one very special resource for learning Life Lessons - where boys are taken by the hand and led - to becoming men.

Now - Professional Football is where men take on a job - where they receive a position - that comes with a salary - for performing a job.

Professional Football is where the intention lies within the realm of - purely - winning games - winning divisions - leading to going and winning The Super Bowl. And believe it or not - even Professional Football does have ethics and rules set in place.

There is a reason why Lane Kiffin was fired from The Oakland Raiders. We now understand that reason.

Lane Kiffin did not bail out on a coaching position with the University of Tennessee.

Lane Kiffin - bailed out on a commitment he made - to take a particular group of boys by the hand - and lead them to becoming men.

I am so thankful for the fact that we have folks who stand firm on defending and upholding - with pride - the true and intended standards that were set in place for college football.

Not every college football player graduates and chooses to move on to playing in Professional Football.

As far as I’m concerned - we’re not finished watching this chapter on Lane Kiffin.

He hasn’t hit bottom - yet.  But he will.

Lane Kiffin has nothing for college football athletes. But - apparently - USC has ended up paying him more - for less.

In the meantime - Everybody on the side of the UT VOLS football team is walking in faith with gratitude for the willingness of Coach Derek Dooley to come clean up the mess and put things back the way they should - and deserve to exist.  God willing - all these boys on the UT Football Team will walk forward - with pride - and the knowledge that their chance for becoming men has not been stolen from them.

Perhaps Lane Kiffin should spend a Sunday watching - “We were Marshall” at home.
